- 1/2 cup farm fresh pecan meal
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
- 3 cups unbleached flour
Directions:
- In a small bowl, combine yeast, water, milk, butter and honey and set aside for 10 minutes (the mixture should be foamy with bubbles).
- In a separate mixing bowl, combine all remaining dry ingredients (flour, flax seed, salt, pecan meal and oats).
- To the liquid mixture, gradually add the dry ingredients. Mix until fully combined (but don’t over mix).
- In an oiled mixing bowl, place the dough in a warm place to allow to rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- After having risen the first time, turn the dough onto a floured surface and punch down. Split the dough into two even balls and shape each into a loaf.
- Place each piece of dough in an oiled loaf pan and allow to rise one last time until doubled, about 1 more hour.
- After having risen a second time, place the loaves into a 350* preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until evenly browned.
- Allow the bread to cool and then remove from the pans. Enjoy!
